Yesterday afternoon, I had a conversation with the president of Pentecost Tours in order to set in motion official planning for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land that I plan to lead in November 2014. This will be the third pilgrimage that I have led as a priest, following on The Footsteps of St. Paul in 2009 and The Saints of Italy in 2012. This time, we will walk in The Footsteps of Jesus – and it will be my first time visiting the Holy Land. As with the previous pilgrimages, I have entrusted the planning and organizing to Batesville, Indiana based Pentecost Tours – an exclusively Catholic pilgrimage company which has been wonderful to work with through the years. You can visit their website here to find out more information about their company and other pilgrimages they offer.
It will probably still be a couple months before the itinerary and cost are finalized and registrations are open – airfare won’t become available until the beginning of December – but we are working now to do the advance planning. It will be an 11-day pilgrimage that will include all of the major biblical sites in and around Jerusalem and Galilee, with daily Mass celebrated at the places Jesus lived and visited. The Bible will be our guide, as we read Scripture in the places where the actual events occurred. The exact dates have not yet been determined, but we are looking at sometime during the middle two weeks of November 2014 – after National Vocations Awareness Week (November 2-9, 2014) and returning in plenty of time for Thanksgiving (November 27, 2014). Once the itinerary and cost are finalized, brochures will be available with detailed information.
Stay tuned to this blog for more information on this Holy Land Pilgrimage as it becomes available. If you would like to be put on a list to receive a brochure once they are finalized, let me know. I look forward to to this journey In the Footsteps of Jesus!
